here are some pictures and little bit about my travel to Bali

My brother invited me to go to Bali with him last February when I had to painfully declined because of my new full time job. Although I was happy to finally land myself a big girl employment, I was also really sad that I wasn’t able to go. When my brother got back from his vacation, it was the only thing he could talk about and I don’t blame him at all!

For half a year, travelling to Bali was all I could think about until one night in September, I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy my round trip flight for the following December. After seeing it with my own eyes and being there first hand, I can fully understand why he felt like he had seen some magical place.

The 30 something hours of journey to get there wasn’t an easy one but I’d do it all over again if I had to.

New Year’s Eve at Kuta Beach

Before leaving Canada, I had some doubts. I began to second guess myself as to why I was travelling when I could be spending the holiday season with my friends but I’m glad I did it anyways. It was by far the best New Year’s Eve I’ve had in ages. Not to mention I met the coolest brothers from Netherlands who were nice enough to let me sit at their table during the dinner party so I wouldn’t feel left out. Thanks Tim and Mark!

Also $10 for a boat ride to watch the dolphins up close and personal wasn’t so bad. It was the most thrilling experience, aside from when I went scuba diving of course.

I also enjoyed the best avocado shakes of my life so yes, I fell in love with Bali. I fell in love with the people, the culture, the history, and the island life.

I’m neither of those things, although I did consider myself a long distance runner when I was training for a half marathon race that I never ended up doing so now you really know how committed I am. Back on the Grind

I am probably the most inconsistent person that I know, and no I am not proud of it. Health and wellness is definitely a big part of my life. It keeps me sane on days when I feel like a complete mess of a human being. If you have been with me since I started this blog, you already know that I have been through some big changes in my life.

I obviously wasn’t coping very well during this past month or so. As much as I want to say that I was taking care of myself, I really wasn’t. I stopped going to yoga, I started eating meat again, and I drank every weekend (both Fridays and Saturdays). I’m glad to say that I’ve definitely regained some of my normal routine back. Two weeks ago, I signed up for some hip hop classes downtown. I’ve started going to the gym, attending my yoga classes, and consuming as little animal products as possible. It feels good to be back on the grind and finally feel like myself again.

Today I worked out on an empty studio and at first I didn’t know what to do with myself with all of the freedom I had. It was nice having the space all to myself, but it was even nicer when another girl joined me and we bonded over Kayla Itsines’ BBG workout guide. As much as it was nice to be secluded from everyone at the gym, making a new friend or just having a nice conversation with a stranger really did brighten my day. It just reminds me that with life sometimes we are so focus on ourselves and completing the task at hand that we forget to look around and noticed that we are all on this beautiful journey together.

Life’s a grind, but it doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone.

Why Everyone Should Wear Compression Socks

Living in Vancouver, I am very used to people  being a hardcore health enthusiast. After all, health and well-being should matter to each and everyone of us, right? By the way, the answer should be yes. My hope is that after you read my little spiel as to why everyone should be wearing compression socks, you will see how beneficial it really is to your health and reconsider what you thought you once knew about them.

Wearing compression socks as a preventative care can help preserve leg health. It stimulates better blood circulation, which then helps the legs feel energized. Think of your job: do you sit or stand in the same position for long periods of time? This can cause blood to pool around your legs, which can often result in tired, achy and swollen legs ( did anybody say cankles? Yikes!). You can prevent these symptoms by wearing compression socks of course.

I’ve also noticed that a lot of sport enthusiast, runners especially, are a hardcore believer in compression socks. I never really understood as to why that is until I wore my compression socks to the gym during leg day, during a busy day at work, and being out and about with friends. Now, I can’t vouch about having a better workout with it compared as to if I had gone without it. However, my legs does feel better when I wear my pair of compression socks compared to when I go without them. I was less sore the next day, so I can definitely say that compression socks definitely works tremendously with muscle recovery.

While there may be mixed views as to whether compression garments really does work or not, there is no denying how comfortable they are to wear. Not only are they cute and funky, I also believe them to be functional. You just have to try and see for yourself!
